I hope I have written appropriately, I am not yet perfectly ready to write English correctly, but I think I did a fair amount of work with this story. Thank you
IT WAS JUST A DREAM
She is there, behind a column of a building in the center of Milan, in front of the beautiful place where he works.
It is not much that he waits and he knows that soon he will come out, as soon as he sees him he will show himself to him, as beautiful as he ever was.
Laura had gone into crisis a few months before, her children had grown up and gone to study at two universities far away abroad.
Edoardo her husband, with the new political post she was now traveling the whole world leaving her alone for a long time.
Yet they were, are and will be a special couple, she certainly knows, she always knew ...
She knows that she has loved Edoardo immensely since they had seen each other thirty years before, when she was just nineteen years old, she had met with friends that handsome young graduate at Bocconi, that young dark-eyed and fiery skin.
Then the marriage, the two sons and a lot of love between them, until that day when he told her the job he had and went on a trip around the world.
Laura could have followed him but did not feel like leaving her job as a woman manager with children to be tossed from one school to another or leave them alone in some horrible school.
So by mutual agreement they had decided to manage their couple in the best possible way, she would stay in Milan and he would be away.
From the first days of their marriage, they had made the habit of having breakfast or having a drink in that luxurious restaurant in the center of Milan.
She was not jealous when the girls who worked in that place looked at her husband in a strange way because of her beauty and charm, she knew that Edward was turning heads to many but had always been faithful to her and so was she.
He adored Sandra, the pastry girl because she reminded him of Laura in her twenties and had been a little disappointed when she left to work in another prestigious club nearby.
They had joked about it, but Edoardo pointed out to her that handsome young man with the same dark eyes that he always observed turning red as Laura asked him for coffee or something else.
In fact she, beautiful, tall, blonde with blue eyes, Laura looked more than ten years younger than her real age, Edoardo exhibited her as a jewel and in intimacy despite all the years of marriage, there was still passion.
The two of them were too similar, united, accomplices to allow someone else or another to break into their lives.
But as always the destiny sometimes tends to invisible traps.
Her husband had been away too long, they felt twice a day but Laura was alone, too lonely.
When Edoardo was returning home was it still night or was she at work, did Laura begin to be in crisis: leave her job and follow him or accept a situation that was dragging on for at least five years?
The end of spring had arrived and she had taken weeks off and not a day went by that alone or with some friends, she had breakfast in the room where there was that boy of just thirty, the boy with eyes of fire like her husband.
She had not noticed that over time those eyes were dragging her into an impossible dream: he seemed more bold with her, an extra chocolate donated, a sweet smile, a joke, his warm hand touching her while she takes the cup of his coffee.
By now it was evident to Laura that something had sprung up between them, something that she had rejected with her mind and heart but ...
This morning he had whispered to her among dozens of clients, who were doing the double shift and unfortunately finished work at twenty and winked at her smiling. She had turned red like a high school student at that gesture.
When she was about to leave he had greeted her by name "Hi Laura ..." leaving something hanging, not the usual goodbye, Mrs. Laura.
From the window, outside she had looked inside, he had watched her, sending her a kiss to her lips.
She had found herself in the office out of breath and scared, she had jumped when the phone rang:
"Dear ..." it was Edward from the other end "Unfortunately I will return to Milan on Sunday, I can't do it tomorrow, I'm sorry to leave you alone a few more days ..."
Before saying goodbye she told him something like "Don't worry love, Luca comes back from London on Saturday, I'll stay with our son and we'll wait for you." while his head was on fire and the thought towards Mirko.
Was Mirko's invitation an invitation?
Why didn't Edward return tomorrow?
Why did she now feel alone to cry?
What was happening to her?
And so in the late afternoon she had made her decision: she would wait for Mirko outside the club, her disappointment was stronger than her, anger with herself and against her husband.
Something that has never happened in thirty years.
She had prepared herself carefully and in front of the mirror there was now a beautiful girl with wavy blond hair, a veil of makeup to bring out the blue eyes, the blue dress that gave her a luminous tone of the skin, the high heel, the pink fleshy lipstick that made her look very young, would not have noticed the age difference who would have them look at yourself.
He knew, he knew it was all wrong and that maybe Mirko hadn't made her understand what he was mulling over all day.
He had thought of it during the journey on foot from home to the room, where many men turned to look at it on the street, beautiful in the sunset.
Here now Laura is there hidden behind a column not far away, no one should have seen her and for Mirko perhaps a pleasant surprise.
After a few minutes he sees Mirko greeting his colleagues inside and comes out smartly dressed, she feels her heart skip and as she is about to cross the street towards him, a beautiful girl with long, black hair descends from a car parked in front.
Mirko meets her hugs and kisses her on the mouth and at that moment she raises her eyes and sees her.
He sees petrified Laura, beautiful on the opposite sidewalk, she feels herself whitening and her heart beating fast.
He doesn't even know how he managed to invent an excuse for his girlfriend who gets in the car waiting for him, while he sees Laura flee towards Piazza Meda.
He runs after her in the astonished crowd, manages to reach her in an instant and stop her with one hand on his arm.
"Laura ..."
She exhausted turns to him with tears on her face.
"Sorry, I'm sorry, Mirko, I'm an idiot ... I thought that ... You didn't have to see me and I didn't have to be there, but ..."
He closes her mouth with two fingers "Don't say anything Laura, I don't know what happened ... Why you're here now ..."
She looks at him sadly with blue eyes full of tears ... "Let me go home, let this stupid go away ..."
"My God, I understand! It's for this morning ..." his eyes are lowered and his hands leave the woman's arms but both of them remain standing there.
Mirko finds the courage to talk even if he is in a hurry to return to the other.
"Laura I had seen you sad for some time, I felt you were away because of your husband, we talked about memories of it? So I felt the desire to make you feel desired, beautiful, unique .. You really are, I know I wouldn't had to do it ... The stupendous ... "
He did not finish the sentence he realized only at that moment that Laura was no longer in front of him swallowed by the crowd and by his shame, he feels a worm but he had not deceived her this morning, he had wanted to make her feel good.
His footsteps sound like hammered in the arcades as he reaches his girlfriend's car, climbs up and she kisses him passionately on the mouth. Then the car leaves in the intense traffic of that Tuesday evening in Milan.
The clock radio marks midnight in the dark in the room, while Laura had just finished crying and giving herself a silly fool who wanted an adventure with a boy and feeling guilty about Edward,
"Stupid, stupid, stupid, with one who could be your son almost and he was just nice to you. Stupid!"
Piano takes his cell phone.
"Love were you sleeping?" her husband's calm voice almost makes her jump.
"No dear, I had just dozed off just waiting for your call."
"Honey I hope it wasn't a heavy day for you today. I'm almost done with my job and ..."
"Heavy? No it wasn't heavy, just a little sad without you ..." interrupts him thinking - I'm stupid, I'm stupid -
"I understand love, now I let you sleep, I'm tired too, I just went to bed and I need to rest. I adore you my Laura ..."
"I too, darling, but you have a strange voice, .. Is there nothing you say? Okay, Edward, I wait for Sunday when you come back. I love you soon."
He puts the phone on the bed next to her and, turning on his side, starts crying again.
The spire of the Madonnina del Duomo stands out from the hotel window in Piazza della Repubblica while Sandra is leaving the bathroom of that beautiful hotel room, Edoardo is standing in front of the window. She hugs him hard.
"It's the last time we meet Sandra, I don't feel it anymore ... I keep seeing Laura's eyes every time and every time it's a blow to the heart."
He turns to her smiling "We both knew our story would be just a pleasant adventure until one of us decided to stop ... We established it."
He looks at her, she's so beautiful since that day that he had seen her in the room where they had breakfast with Laura and they had met in Rome by chance after she had left that place.
From that moment, although Sandra was engaged to be married, they had started dating when he was in Italy, making his wife believe the opposite.
"We have ... I've got it all wrong ... Maybe I'd better get home now, pretending to surprise her."
He lowers and hugs the girl's legs "I'm sorry Sandra, a real man doesn't behave like that, he doesn't leave you alone in this room in the middle of the night to go back to his wife with guilt ...
"Shut up!" she says putting her fingers on his mouth "You're a treasure and you will always be so even if I'm sorry it's over, but I think it's right so I too wrong too, we'll come back together with ... - Milan - now inside of me Edoardo, I have been well, even too much ".
Laura now sitting on the living room sofa hears the elevator stop on her single floor, immediately after the doorbell rings and as she approaches she hears Edward calling her, a blow to the heart and runs to open it.
Outside the windows of that attic, a white moon illuminates Milan from above, while on the streets below thousands of red and yellow lights run through the streets of the metropolis.
